Delivering the Spring Farm BNG Project, from planning, through to the completed Bio-Diverse grassland and habitats needed by developers to fulfil the BNG obligations.

An area of grassland surrounds an ancient moat dating back to 1250/1350 AD. The open field has been run under a low input management system and is ideal for a BNG project.

The area was prepared by shallow rotavating, to protect the existing ridge and furrow ensuring that the natural contour of the land remained undisturbed. Ancient drainage systems cross the land and form an important part of the ongoing development of the project.

The amount of heavy machinery is minimised at every stage of the cultivation and sowing, this stops the soil compacting and helps to preserve the characteristics of the ancient field.
A complex mix of wild flower and grassland seeds has been designed specifically for the Spring Farm BNG. This mix has been put together to increase the diverse range of the land and increase it worth to the BNG project.

The plan for Spring Farm BNG also includes a comprehensive planting scheme to restore 850m of hedgerow with mixed native species. This will be in addition to maintenance of existing hedgerow that border the BNG area

The several areas of woodland around the site will be carefully managed to encourage natural growth of the native species, delivering an environment where animals and insect with thrive.
